A cloud-based architecture brings unprecedented value to manufacturers. It eliminates all the hardware, software and support infrastructure associated with on-premise systems. This means that capital expenditure is essentially eliminated and ongoing IT support is dramatically reduced. Leveraging the 42Q cloud-based system enables rapid deployment in weeks instead of months and enables secure access from anywhere in the world.
Cloud technology plays a crucial role in enabling Industry 4.0. Industry 4.0 is characterized by the integration of digital technologies into manufacturing processes, and cloud computing provides the foundation for many of these advancements.
While many customers find the prospect of moving from on-premise to a cloud-based system daunting, most are surprised by the effortless transition with 42Q. The Digital Factory Starter Kit provides customers with an opportunity to rapidly implement 42Q as a proof of concept and experience the benefits of transitioning to a cloud-based system.
Customers who choose 42Q often remark on many benefits including cost savings, scalability, disaster recovery, redundancy and security.
42Q being a cloud-based system leverages the secure infrastructure of a Tier 1 cloud services provider. External penetration tests are conducted periodically to challenge the security systems.
Our network services and security services team are available to assist you in network and security assessments.
We recognize the importance of confidentiality of each customer’s data. All data belonging to a specific customer is encrypted and only visible to them. 42Q is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and has robust controls and systems to manage security, availability, confidentiality, processing integrity, and privacy of data.
42Q infrastructure utilizes highly optimized database functions to query and write data. The number of users has no noticeable impact on database performance. There are a wide range of manufacturing operations using 42Q in more than 25 countries worldwide, with many operating 24/7 where high volumes of data are collected.
42Q supports many regulatory standards including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 11, EU MDR, IATF 16949, AS 9100, ITAR and EAR.
Yes, over 35,000 different pieces of equipment are connected to 42Q using a variety of industry standard protocols.
42Q integrates with SAP, Oracle and NetSuite ERP systems using certified adapters and with other ERP systems using 42Q Xchange.

No, with cloud MES, you can get started small and scale up as needed. Being in the cloud, you can start immediately with a minimal investment (typically within the budget of a plant P&L owner) and expand usage as needed. You do not need to buy server hardware or software to get started with 42Q. Since 42Q is a subscription based model it eliminates risky and expensive Capex.
42Q is flexible to start small, prove the value and scale up as required. It can be deployed on one line or a small section of your manufacturing process.
Our rapid deployment process allows customers to get started within 2 - 4 weeks.
Manufacturers select 42Q for a combination of reasons.
- Manufacturing expertise and know-how. 42Q was developed by a fortune 500 manufacturer operating in a wide range of industrial markets and diverse manufacturing processes. Customers recognize when they engage with the 42Q team it’s not just software that they purchase. They also gain from significant manufacturing expertise and know-how.
- 42Q - The full-featured cloud-based MES. Being the only full-featured cloud-based MES solution allows 42Q to bring unprecedented value to manufacturers. From accessibility to reliability, from security to compliance, from rapid deployment to quick evaluation, from CAPEX to OPEX, 42Q disrupted the MES market.
- Proven and Powerful Flexibility. For more than 30 years, 42Q has been proven to add value to a wide variety of manufacturing operations including plastics, metal fabrication, precision machining, industrial, foundry, electronics and systems assembly. It also drives the manufacturing pulse in a broad range of industries including medical, automotive, defense, aerospace, electronics, industrial, semiconductor, retail and mining.
- Fast deployment. Start small and scale up as needed. 42Q can be deployed in a matter of weeks in a selected area of your manufacturing operations. When value is proven in your business, you can quickly scale up other manufacturing operations, volume and functionality.
- OpEx not CapEx. Flexible subscription based pricing. With 42Q huge capital expenditure on an MES system is eliminated. Instead flexible subscription based pricing based on your usage of the system is converted to an operational expenditure.
- Ease of integration systems and equipment. 42Q easily integrates with various Enterprise systems (i.e. ERP, PLM, WMS, etc.) It also communicates seamlessly with a broad range of manufacturing and test equipment using industry standard protocols. Today, more than 35,000 pieces of equipment are connected to 42Q around the world.
